Lack of Proper Maintenance

​Carrier Air-Cooled Chiller
We observed a Carrier air-cooled chiller where motor bearings experienced premature failure. The signs of trouble were evident as motor vibration increased, yet these warnings were disregarded. The neglect to address the motor vibration led to catastrophic results; the motor ultimately broke down, causing the fan blade to damage the coil. This failure highlights the importance of monitoring and maintaining motor bearings and addressing any signs of abnormal vibration promptly.
York YK VSD Power Assembly

It involves a York YK VSD power assembly. This equipment suffered multiple power surges and overheating of the baseplate temperature. Despite these critical signs, the issues were left unresolved. Eventually, the power assembly failed during a period of high demand for cooling, exacerbating the impact of the breakdown. This case underscores the necessity of managing power surges and maintaining optimal temperature conditions to prevent overheating and ensure the reliability of the power assembly.


Carrier 19XRV High Speed Assembly Failure

It is a Carrier 19XRV chiller that was overhauled due to high-speed assembly failure. This machine experienced constant surging and was forced to operate continuously. Eventually, it failed in the middle of summer, leaving the building without cooling. This case emphasizes the importance of understanding the machine’s limitations and operating within them to avoid expensive repairs and extended downtime.
York YMC2 Lack of Maintenance
It depicts a York YMC2, where a lack of maintenance and knowledge led to a major repair. The VSD loop uses an inhibitor to cool the components in the VSD panels. Correct usage and proper maintenance are critical to ensure the reliable operation of these systems. Neglecting these aspects can result in severe damage and costly repairs, highlighting the importance of ongoing education and adherence to maintenance protocols.

Trane Centrifugal Overhaul Project
In a institutional building, due to failure of the compressor motor windings, we opened and inspected the compressor. We rewound the motor windings, replaced bearings, balanced components and reassembled and tested operation.
3000-ton York YK chiller Overhaul Project
A 3000-ton York YK chiller was opened for inspection to ensure that tolerances are within factory specifications. This proactive measure is vital for maintaining optimal performance and preventing unexpected breakdowns. During the inspection, we meticulously examined all critical component’s tolerances, checking for any signs of wear or deviation from the manufacturer's standards.


Daikin WSC Centrifugal Chiller Overhaul
As per running hour inspection, we meticulously examine all critical components, including bearings, seals, and impellers, to check for any signs of wear or deviation from factory specifications. This proactive measure is vital for detecting potential issues before they lead to unexpected breakdowns.
Carrier 19XR Overhaul Projects Due to High-Speed Assembly Failure
When a high-speed assembly failure occurs in a Carrier 19XR chiller, an overhaul becomes necessary to restore the system's performance and reliability. The overhaul process was initiated with a comprehensive inspection to identify the root cause of the failure. We disassembled the chiller, examined each component of the high-speed assembly, including the compressor, motor, and associated bearings.
